I went to Zante in May 2003. I stayed in Alykes it was beautiful. The apartments I stayed in the Theo Soula apartments which were very clean and the locals were friendly. It was a bit of a walk to the beach but worth it. I also recommend going to Athens if you get the chance.

Don't end up in Zante local hospital unfortunately I did. It was a filthy dirty dive. The nurses hands were smelly, I didn't have my bed sheets change for 5 days, the washing facilities were dirty, there were no screens around the beds therefore no privacy. When the doctor was discussing your treatment everyone listened in. Toilet paper was available in morning however if you didn't go in the morning the paper would be used up and not replenished till the next morning. Family and visitors gathered around the bottom or the word corridor and smoked. I was glad to be nil by mouth as the food smelt disgusting. On saying all that I would be dead if I hadn't the treatment they gave me.
